iPhone OS 3.0 Supports Arabic!
March 18, 2009 10:12 AM
Arabic support in the iPhone has never been properly implemented. Currently the letters will show up but won't be connected and sometimes show up backwards, as seen in the screenshot below
But I have excellent news, the new iPhone OS 3.0 fully supports Arabic. It can display Arabic properly and even has an Arabic keyboard available, check out the screenshots below
InshAllah with this new new Arabic support I will be able to add Arabic localization to all my apps (Guidance and Quran Reader) and I will now be able to make my next app, Supplication, a Dua' app with dua's in English and Arabic that I plan to release for free on the App Store this summer.

Arabic text and keyboard in iPhone OS 3.0
InshAllah with this new new Arabic support I will be able to add Arabic localization to all my apps (Guidance and Quran Reader) and I will now be able to make my next app, Supplication, a Dua' app with dua's in English and Arabic that I plan to release for free on the App Store this summer.

I tried iphone os 3.0 beta 5 and it seems it supports Arabic, but when I tried with Safari not every Arabic letter is written correctly.
For example: the word Bi'ar, because the letter ba has kasra, hamza will be written on top of ya without dots. I couldn't write hamza, the only alif I could write is the standing alif. Do you know how to write the other forms of hamza? There is a bug as well related to kassra, dumma, fatha... etc.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Karim
If you plan I can help adding Turkish dua's.
Salam,
I'm currently running the official 3.0 software. I enabled Arabic in the keyboard, i can read Arabic perfectly but when i tried writing in notes, safari, or any place where a keyboard exists, nothing happens. The typing sound comes out, and everything, just as if it's actually writing, but with no text. The cursor doesn't even move, as if I'm not doing anything. Any help?
Sallam Alaikum,
How do i get the hidden letters (If they exist)? like الالف المقصوره "ى" والهمزه "ء" غير موجودين
Sulaiti, simply hold down the alif key to get additional options like the hamza and hold down the ya key to get an alif maksura.
Salam;
I heard that the new software for iPhone (3.0) support notification from the apps. Is that true?
And if yes, does the latest version of your software support this feature?
I really need the Athan notification.

Saud
Saud,
That is true, and we've already finished the update that can send you prayer alerts using push notifications and play the adhan even when the application isn't running. We've submitted the update to Apple and are just waiting for them to approve it.
